NORMAN, Okla. -- In a sport that has seen an increasing influx of foreign players, homegrown talent has almost become an unfamiliar phrase.

A native of Edmond, Okla., Brittany Baldy is one of the exceptions, a local kid playing for her home state.

Baldy grew up dreaming of someday attending the University of Oklahoma and playing tennis for the Sooners. Over the last four years, she has had the opportunity to live that dream, and she's relished every minute of it.

Surrounded by players from all over the world, Baldy has taken it upon herself to help her foreign teammates adapt to life in Oklahoma. She has broadened her scope on life in the process, and the friendships she's made through it all will last a lifetime. That, she says, has been the most valuable part of the entire experience.
