Rowing to Compete at SIRAs

NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's rowing team competes at the SIRA Championships in Oak Ridge, Tenn., Saturday-Sunday April 18-19. Races take place on the 2000 meter Oak Ridge Regatta Course and begin at 7:12 a.m. CT Saturday. The novice four led by coxswain Kelsey Witten, Lindsay Hemingway, Brooke Sheppard, Heather McDonald and Caroline Brannin race at 7:12 a.m. CT against Vanderbilt, Northwestern State, Michigan State, Murray State and Alabama. This marks the first time this season OU has raced a novice four. The novice eight consisting of coxswain Haley Brown, Izzy Stewart, Brandi Brown, Katherine Rabe, Jenava Burguiere, Laurel Holasek, Madelyn Randolph, Janelle Roche and Brooke Homer The Sooners face Indiana, Tulsa, Kansas, Louisville and West Virginia at 1:09 p.m. CT. Oklahoma is racing a varsity eight for the first time this season at 4:32 p.m. CT in one of two heats against Jacksonville, Kansas, Purdue, Kansas State and Alabama. The other heat consists of West Virginia, SMU, Grand Valley State, Louisville, Indiana and Tulsa. The top three from each heat will advance to the Grand Final. The varsity eight is led by coxswain Lauren Price, Meagan Harrell, Teddi Dwyer, Chelsea Moore and Elena Engles. Joining the varsity are Monique Gaines, Cara Bowers, Sarah Kelle and Laura Moon.
