NORMAN, Okla. -- The No. 11 Sooners earned a 4-0 victory in game one of Saturday's doubleheader over Texas Tech and clinched their fourth Big 12 series win.
The shutout, OU's third straight, improved the Sooners to 28-7 overall and 8-3 in Big 12 play. The pitching staff has hung up 33 scoreless innings dating back to the third game of the Missouri series.
Stephen Porlier made his first start since May 25, 2007 (vs. Oklahoma State) and improved to 1-0 after five solid innings. The Sooners' Friday night ace from 2007, struck out five batters and limited the Red Raiders ( 15-22, 6-8) to two hits. Texas Tech did not have a hit off Porlier in the first 3 1/3 innings of action.
Matt Harughty gave the Sooners an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third with his sixth home run of the season. The blast to left, the Sooners' 61st this year, plated Garrett Buechele, who doubled earlier in the frame to extend his hitting streak to 15 games.
Bryant Hernandez knocked in his team leading 40th and 41st runs of the season on a triple to right center field in the bottom of the fifth.
Texas Tech's A.J. Ramos lasted eight innings but dropped to 3-3 after surrendering four runs off six hits and three walks.
The second game of the doubleheader started at 4:05 p.m.
