Postgame Quotes

March 27, 2009 | Men's Basketball

Sophomore Guard Cade Davis

On playing a team from the Big East conference:
"We consider our play in the Big 12 as physical as the Big East. The only thing that we needed to really work on (coming into the game) was their zone and be able to attack it and find gaps in it and be able to knock down shots. Be able to get in and penetrate the zone and dish it to Blake (Griffin) and those guys. We knew coming in that they weren't a very good block-out team. So we could go in and get offensive rebounds. We have been hearing all week about Syracuse, Big East this, Big East that. That really just made us want to go out there and prove everything."

On Tony Crocker:
"He (Tony Crocker) needed this. His confidence was down. He played great. This game is going to help tremendously and not only him but for us going into the next game. Me and Omar (Leary) kept telling him to keep looking for shots and he did and just kept knocking them down."

Freshman Guard Willie Warren

On the gameplan:
"I knew with the talent on our team, we were definitely capable. Crock (Tony Crocker) gave us a big game to boost the lead up. With plays like that, I feel like we have a chance to win it all."

On the beginning of the second half:
"We knew they were going to get back into the game early so they could stay in their 2-3 zone. We wanted to get a big lead so they would have to go (man-to-man defense). This is the best feeling I've had since last year, winning the state championship.

On Tony Crocker:
"He relieved a lot of pressure to help Blake (Griffin) and Taylor (Griffin) out in the middle of the zone to where they could get easy shots. He opened up shots for AJ (Austin Johnson) and me, too."

Senior Guard Austin Johnson

On his team:
"Early in the year, I knew we had a special team and that we can do some special things."

On Tony Crocker:
"We knew he could make shots and that he would. It was only a matter of when he was going to do it, and he stepped up big today."
