IRVING, Texas -- Oklahoma's Whitney Hand was named Phillips 66 Big 12 Freshman of the Week for a fourth time this season, the conference announced Monday.
Hand proved unflappable in the second-ranked Sooners pair of wins last week against No. 12 Tennessee and Oklahoma State, averaging 16 points, 4.5 rebounds and 73 percent field goal shooting, including a 66 percent mark from beyond the arc.
Playing an entire 40 minutes for the first time in her young career, Hand scored a team-leading 20 points, had a pair of rebounds and steals and one assist and block. The freshman was 8-of-9 from the field, making her first eight field goal attempts, which included a game-high four 3-pointers to lead OU to an 80-70 win against the Lady Vols.
Hand provided 12 points and a career-high seven rebounds in a 93-75 win at Oklahoma State. The Fort Worth, Texas, native was perfect from 3-point range (2-of-2) and the free throw line (4-of-4).
Oklahoma hosts Iowa State Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m. at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, Okla.
