NORMAN, Okla. – The 12th-ranked University of Oklahoma wrestling team (4-0-1) will compete in its final event of the semester when it travels to the 28th annual Cliff Keen Las Vegas Collegiate Invitational, this Friday and Saturday inside the Star of the Desert Arena in Primm, Nev.
Competition is expected to be stiff, as 10 of InterMat's top 25 teams will be on hand to participate in the tournament format.
“Our guys are excited to compete against student-athletes from all across the country,” head coach Jack Spates said. “The competition this weekend will undoubtedly help prepare our team for the rest of the season.”
The Sooners are coming off of a tie against in-state rival Oklahoma State on Dec. 1 in Norman, 16-16. This weekend, Oklahoma is hoping to duplicate its tournament efforts earlier this season when it captured the Brockport/Oklahoma Gold title on Nov. 14 in Brockport, N.Y.
After the weekend, Oklahoma will break for the holidays and return to action on Jan. 3 when Cal Poly visits Norman.
