WEST POINT, N.Y. -- No. 16 Oklahoma escaped Army at Christl Arena as spirited cadets injected energy into their team on the eve of one of the school's greatest sports traditions.
The Sooners won their second game in as many days with a 59-46 victory Thursday night against the Black Knights, who celebrated in style the night before the Army-Navy football game.
Nyeshia Stevenson scored 17 points and Abi Olajuwon had her first double-double of the season with a 16-point, 13-rebound performance.
Danielle Robinson added 15 points.
Oklahoma trailed 29-23 at the half after shooting just 23 percent from the field.
The Sooners found their offense immediately after the halftime break, outscoring Army 36-17. OU made 13 of its 25 field goals in the second period.
Olajuwon scored seven of her points as OU opened the second half with a 13-1 run to take a 36-32 lead within four minutes.
Army cut into the margin with 3-pointers from Jessie Coiffard and Nalini Hawkins. A free throw by Erin Anthony at the 6:35 mark made the score 45-44, but it was the closest Army would get in the final minutes.
Stevenson scored seven of OU's final 13 points and the Sooner defense allowed just one more field goal from the Knights.
