NORMAN, Okla. – Eric Lapotsky of the 12th-ranked University of Oklahoma wrestling team has been chosen as the Big 12 Conference's Wrestler of the Month for November. The 197-pounder is a perfect 8-0 this season with six pins, including three in duals.
It marks the first career conference honor for the senior.
“This is a very worthy choice,” head coach Jack Spates said. “Eric is an inspiring wrestler who shakes hands with his opponent and then immediately looks for the pin. He means a lot to our team and we are very proud of him.”
The Mt. Carmel, Pa., product is well on his way of eclipsing his team-high 11 falls last season.
Lapotsky has also been impressive in tournament action this season by capturing the title at the Brockport/Oklahoma Gold Classic on Nov. 11 after a 4-0 record.
Ranked seventh nationally, Lapotsky will battle No. 4 Alan Gelogaev of No. 3 Oklahoma State tonight in the first installment of Bedlam wrestling at 7 p.m. inside the Howard McCasland Field House.
