CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.— The University of Oklahoma rowing team completed day one at the Head of the Hooch with three top 20 finishes.

Oklahoma began the day in the Women's Freshman Novice Eight division.  The “A” boat of coxswain Carly Schueler, Elizabeth Blanche, Brooke Holleman, Nicole Bladow, Rebecca Winchester, Chloe Troutt, Morgan Whinery, Sara Sherrer and Heather House placed third with a time of fifteen minutes, 18.2 seconds. he Sooners other two boats finished 11th (16:49.0) and 13th (17:45.0).

In the Women's Championship Eight division, the Sooners placed 12th and 19th out of 33 boats entered, and placed ahead of Big 12 opponent Kansas. Oklahoma's “A” boat posted a time of 14:58.8 finishing 12th and the “B” boat posted a time of 15:18.5 to land in 19th place.

The Championship four race was the last of the day for Oklahoma. Led by coxswain Lauren Price, Rebecca Staff, Chelsea Moore, Meagan Harrell and Meghan Farrell, the Sooners placed 11th out of a total of 40 entries. The Sooners recorded a time of 16:28.0 and finished ahead of in-state rival Tulsa.
