NORMAN, Okla. –The University of Oklahoma rowing team races in the final regatta of the fall season at the Head of the Hooch in Chattanooga, Tenn., Nov. 7-8.
The Head of the Hooch is the second largest regatta in the country with over 1,500 crews from the high school, college and masters ranks. The event begins at the Riverfront at Ross's Landing Park and extends 5,000 meters (3.1 miles) on the Tennessee River ending at Ross's Landing Park in downtown Chattanooga. Spectators are given a beautiful view of the racing at the Tennessee Aquarium and along two bridges, including the Walnut Street Bridge which is the longest pedestrian bridge over freshwater in the world.
The Sooners race in the Women's Freshman Novice Eights at 9:00 a.m. CT, the Women's Championship Eights at 10:29 a.m. CT, the Championship Fours at 3:10 p.m. CT and the Women's Open Pairs Sunday at 9:33 a.m. CT.

Season Recaps
At SMU
The varsity "A" led by coxswain Lauren Price, Meagan Harrell, Chelsea Moore, Rebecca Stafff, Brooke Sheppard, Sarah Kelle, Ally Gray, Abbey LaFollette and Meghan Farrell finished first in the eight boat race with a time of twenty-eight minutes.52 seconds. Oklahoma placed first and second in varsity four competition. Varsity "A" finished first with a time of 32.34, followed by OU varsity "B" (32.46) and SMU (36.11). Varsity "A" was led by coxswain Amanda Hoffman, Melea McCreary, Nicole Furmanek, Elena Engles and Monique Gaines. The varsity "B" was led by Kelsey Witten, Brooke Homer, Virginia Ratcliff, Ashley LaFollette and Sam Fahed.
Boot of the Oklahoma
The Sooners entered three boats with the top boat finishing in sixth with a time of 14.52.128. Boat "B" came in twelfth (15:26.956) and boat "C" came in sixteenth (15:46.964).
In the 4000 meter varsity four race Oklahoma came in fourth with a time of 16:50.418, ninth (17:00.186) and twenty-first (18:23.350). The novice eight competed the first time this season finishing second in the 4000 meter race recording a time of 17:05.290.
Oklahoma competed in the 500 meter stampede races with the varsity eights. Boat "A" came in second to Tulsa in the Grand Final, 1:34.700 to 1:35.560. Boat "B" finished fourth in the Petite Final with a time of 1:45.050.
Head of the Charles
Oklahoma raced in the women's championship eights and finished with a time of 19 minutes:25.311 seconds. The Sooners were led by coxswain Kelsey Witten, Rebecca Staff, Chelsea Moore, Meagan Harrell, Brooke Sheppard, Abbey LaFollette, Meghan Farrell, Melea McCreary and Ashley LaFollette.
Head of the Colorado
The Sooners claimed a gold, two silvers and a bronze. The Varsity Eight "A" boat finished third with a time of 16:12.4. Oklahoma's Novice Eight placed second with a time of 17:27.4. The Varsity Four "B " took home the gold with a time of 17:43.1 and the Varsity Four "A" posted a time of 18:00.3 to finish second.
