ST. THOMAS, Virgin Islands (AP) -- Amanda Thompson scored 18 points to lead five Sooners in double figures, but No. 20 Oklahoma may have suffered a key personnel loss in an 87-48 romp over No. 23 San Diego State Friday in the Paradise Jam.

Whitney Hand, who entered the tournament averaging 14 points a game for the Sooners, injured her right knee with 1:42 remaining in the first half and spent the second half on the bench, her knee in a brace.

"We won't know anything officially until we get an MRI," Oklahoma coach Sherri Coale said.

Before she left the game, Hand had limited Jene Morris to four points.

Morris finished with eight points, two points shy of the 1,000-point mark for her career.

Quenese Davis, who scored 25 points against Notre Dame on Thursday, was limited to two points by Oklahoma. Paris Johnson was the only Aztec player in double figures, scoring 10 points.

Thompson had nine rebounds, three steals and three assists to go with her 18 points for the Sooners. Nyeshia Stevenson and Abi Olajuwon each scored 14 points for Oklahoma, and teammate Danielle Robinson added 13.

"We've said all along, that our strength would be everybody we put on the floor can score," Coale said. "I thought we began to feel comfortably on offense for the first time this year. We got into a rhythm."

Oklahoma hit 37-of-65 field-goal attempts for 57 percent. The Aztecs shot 29 percent, hitting 16-of-56 shots, as they struggled with the Sooners' press.

"I think Oklahoma is very good," San Diego State coach Beth Burns said. "We have two guards (Morris and Davis) who play their guts out, and had to play their guts out against Notre Dame. When you're a work in progress, a great team like Oklahoma just exposes you to death."
