Recap |  Box Score |  Notes

Oklahoma Head Coach Sherri Coale
On the game:
“Sometimes what you have to do is whatever you have to do to win. It was a very ugly afternoon of basketball on our behalf and we are very fortunate to walk away with a win.”

On Oklahoma center Abi Olajuwon:
“I thought that Abi was outstanding. She battled when and you tell when she was tired that was the difference in the game because we didn't have here in the position at the post. I thought that Abi did really well.”

On Oklahoma's defense:
“I thought that we forced some turnovers and made them do some stuff that they don't customarily do. We lost our concentration but overall it was the defense that kept us in the game because our offense struggled.”

On TCU:
“They are a very good basketball team and they are a very offensively potent. They will be one of the teams to get into the NCAA tournament. But we are going to play a whole lot better if we want to beat any of our opponents next week.”

On upcoming schedule:
“Three teams that have a lot of experience and they are good basketball teams. They are all well coached, strong and powerful teams that are capable of scoring. And we won't get anything easy.

Senior Center Abi Olajuwon
On her performance in the second-half:
“I just needed to seal in and sell out.  I needed to penetrate more and keep pursuing the ball.  Honestly, I wasn't really worried about the touches at that point, I was just focused on being a big presence.”

Junior Guard Danielle Robinson
On what needs to change offensively to be more productive:
“We just need to slow down.  We had a great week at practice and really progressed in our motion offense and we went out there and didn't do anything that we did in practice.  I think it's a matter of us making a decision to transfer things over.”

On her change in aggressiveness in the second half:
“I think that I just passed up a lot of open shots.  I just decided to take them.  I knew they were out of rhythm. I wasn't trying to force any of them.  Sometimes I short-armed them but for the most part I was trying to take my open shots. “

Sophomore Guard Whitney Hand
On the game:
“Coach pretty much said it, we didn't really do much right, honestly.  The first half pretty much showed that.  There was no fight, there was no intensity.  When shots aren't falling we can't just stop playing.  I think that's what we did wrong.  We just stopped and stared at Abi. If Abi hadn't scored we would have lost by 20.  We didn't do a lot right.”

TCU Head Coach Jeff Mittie
Opening statement:
“Well, we just aren't very good right now.  We had way too many turnovers and breakdowns.  We still had a chance to win the game at the end.  We just had way too many breakdowns to win the game.”

On Oklahoma center Abi Olajuwon being a tough matchup for his team:
“It is a difficult size matchup for us.  She had good touch inside and she was getting us too deep so we decided to slide around her.  I thought our zone mixed up a few of her reads.  She had a big game, close to a double-double.  We probably should have fouled her more.”

On if his team's turnovers were self-inflicted or because of Oklahoma's defense:
“I thought it was a combination.  Oklahoma does a good job of having active hands.  You can't take that away from them, although we had a ton of travels early in this game.  I know we were excited to play in this game.  I was furious with my basketball team in terms of execution.  I thought we were further along executing, but I guess not.  We had numerous breakdowns and had players in bad areas of the floor which caused a lot of turnovers.”

On if his team was comfortable playing on the road against a top program:
“We have certainly played in a lot of situations like this. Teams like Oklahoma are tough to beat in their place.  We felt like we would have a chance to win this game if we executed.  We had a pretty good situation for us at halftime.  (Whitney) Hand and (Amanda) Thompson were in foul trouble but then they don't pick up another one the rest of the game.   Coming in here, we have certainly been down this road before and played tough teams on the road.”
