2009-10 OU Women's Basketball Schedule

NEW YORK (AP) -- Oklahoma will start its 2009-10 women's basketball season ranked 13th in the Associated Press Preseason Top 25 Poll.

The Sooners have been ranked in the top 25 since the debut poll of the 2005-06 season, extending the longest such streak in the program's history.

OU followed Big 12 rivals Baylor (No. 7) and Texas (No. 12) in this year's version. Kansas was No. 20.

Defending national championship Connecticut were the unanimous No. 1 in the women's basketball poll, earning all 40 first-place votes from a national media panel.

The Sooners will play at least nine games against preseason top 25 foes, including home matchups against No. 1 UConn (Feb. 15), No. 7 Baylor (Feb. 10), No. 12 Texas (Feb. 3) and No. 20 Kansas (Jan. 23).

OU also meets No. 4 Notre Dame on Nov. 28 during the Virgin Islands Paradise Jam, No. 8 Tennessee in Knoxville on Jan. 3 and No. 21 Georgia in Athens on Nov. 15.

Ten other OU opponents -- Texas A&M, San Diego State, Kansas State, Marist, Iowa State, Arkansas, TCU, Nebraska, Texas Tech and Oklahoma State -- received votes for the preseason poll.

Stanford was voted second and Ohio State third, with Notre Dame and North Carolina rounding out the first five.

Duke and Baylor start the next five, followed by Tennessee. LSU is ninth with Michigan State rounding out the top 10.

Xavier, Texas, Oklahoma, Virginia and Florida State, Arizona State, DePaul, California, Georgia Tech and Kansas complete the first 20.

Georgia, Vanderbilt, Louisville, Middle Tennessee State and Rutgers finish off the Top 25.

Oklahoma opens its season at the Lloyd Noble Center, Nov. 13, versus Mercer.   The Sooners host exhibitions against Rogers State (Nov. 4) and Oklahoma Christian (Nov. 10).  All of those games being at 7 p.m.
