NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma has five wrestlers ranked in Amateur Wrestling News' Top 20 preseason rankings released this week.
Headlining the group is Midwest City, Okla., product Kyle Terry, ranked No. 6 at 149 pounds. The senior will defend his Big 12 title this season and look to qualify for this third NCAA Championships of his career.
Eric Lapotsky is tabbed No. 7 at 197 pounds following a 2009 season where he tallied a 24-10 overall mark and a team-high 11 pins over opponents. Ranked No. 10 and No. 12 are juniors Jeff James (174 pounds) and Nathan Fernandez (285), respectively.
Zack Bailey rounds out the group of ranked Sooners, tabbed No. 16 at 141 pounds. The junior returns to the Sooner lineup this season after suffering a season-ending injury last January.
Oklahoma hosts its annual Red/White scrimmage on Nov. 5 inside the Howard McCasland Field House before opening the season on the road in Edmond Nov. 11.
