• Last Week: The University of Oklahoma men's cross country team finished second at the Arkansas/Missouri Southern State Dual Friday evening in Fayetteville, Ark. The Sooner men were led by newcomer Andres Gonzalez who paced the four-mile course in 21:27.2, finishing in 15th place.
• This Week: OU is off this week as it prepares for the Missouri Southern Stampede on Sept. 20.
• Last Week: The OU soccer team suffered an 0-2 weekend after dropping a 3-2 overtime decision at North Texas on Friday and a 1-0 loss to Rice at home on Sunday. Both defeats came after goals scored late in the contests. In Friday's game, the Sooners led 2-1 until the 83rd minute when the Mean Green tied the game and later claimed the victory in the first two minutes of overtime. On Sunday, OU controlled momentum throughout the contest only to allow a goal on a corner kick with less than three minutes in regulation.
• This Week: The Sooners will search to snap a two-game skid next weekend with a pair of road contests. OU will play at Memphis on Friday, Sept. 12, at 7 p.m. and at Mississippi on Sunday, Sept. 14, at 1 p.m.
• Notes: Whitney Palmer scored in her third consecutive game during Friday's loss at North Texas. That streak was later snapped after OU was blanked at home against Rice on Sunday. Palmer leads OU in scoring this season after she led all Sooners with six goals in 2007 during her freshman campaign.
• Last Week: Three new Sooners, Blake Boswell, George Chanturia and Chase Miller, joined the Oklahoma men's tennis team as OU opened fall practice last week with a set of intrasquad matches to determine placement in upcoming tournaments.
• This Week: OU will kick off the 2008-2009 season with individual tournaments this fall. Andrei Daescu and Sergey Avdeyev will travel to Costa Mesa, Calif., for the Costa Mesa Pro Futures Classic Sept. 12-15.
• Notes: Two Sooner student-athletes were ranked in the first edition of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's preseason rankings. Both Andrei Daescu, No. 22, and No. 122 Sergey Avdeyev have at least a .649 career winning percentage and will compete this weekend in California.
• Last Week: The University of Oklahoma women's volleyball team competed at the Holiday Inn City Center Trojan Invitational in Los Angeles, Calif. The Sooners went 1-2 on the weekend, facing No. 7 USC, No. 21 San Diego and Hofstra. OU dropped matches to both ranked opponents before defeating Hofstra, 3-0.
• This Week: OU closes out non-conference play at the SFA Tournament in Nacogdoches, Texas. The Sooners face Rice and host Stephen F. Austin on Friday and conclude the tournament against Creighton and UT-Pan American on Saturday.
• Notes: Sophomore Chrissy Disarro had a stellar tournament in Los Angeles, including posting career highs in four categories against USC and recording five block solos and six block assists ... Freshman Brianne Francie Ekwerekwu tallied a game-high .562 hitting percentage against Hofstra and freshman Brianne Barker recorded a season-high 14 digs and a team-high 33 assists for her first career double-double.
