Rowing Announces Roster

NORMAN, Okla. – In the inaugural season of women's rowing at the University of Oklahoma, head coach Leeanne Crain announced the team's 58-person roster this afternoon.

“We are excited to announce our 2008-09 roster,” said Crain. “We had a great turnout at tryouts and have selected those we feel have potential to develop as strong collegiate rowers. These young women will have a special place in the history, competing in the first year of the OU rowing program.”

Coxswains for the first-year squad include Lauren Biggers, Haley Brown, Kelsey Crowell, Hannah Gandy, Amanda Hoffman, Dana Mohammad-Zadeh, Kiley Poppino, Lauren Price, Brownyn Tawney and Kelsey Witten.

A total of 48 young ladies will comprise the various teams for the Sooners. They include Rory Blackburn, Cara Bowers, Brandi Brown, Abigail Coopedge, Courtney Davenport, Ryann Davis, Ashley Dodd, Teddi Dwyer, Elena Engles, Rebecca Evans, Samantha Fahed, Marie Frangione, Megan Frenette, Michelle Fuller, Monique Gaines, Amanda Gardner, Ally Gray, Laura Greenwood, Saraya Grove, Meagan Harrell, Lindsay Hemingway, Laurel Holasek, Brooke Homer, Jackie Hurlbut, Sarah Kelle, Maureen Lewis, Melea McCreary, Heather McDonald, Layne McNish, Laura Moon, Chelsea Moore, Karina Oleksuk, Michael Owen, Courtney Paddick, Paige Payne, Tayler Pierce, Allison Quiroga, Katherine Rabe, Madelyn Randolph, Janelle Roche, Susan Schoch, Brooke Sheppard, Erin Smith, Isabelle Stewart, Brittany Thaxton, Michelle Thomas and Brittny Webb.

The Sooners begin the season with the Head of the Oklahoma on Saturday, Oct. 4 in Oklahoma City, Okla.
