NORMAN, Okla. -- Season ticket renewals for the 2008-09 OU women's basketball season are in the mail. And with a spectacular slate of home games, it is imperative that fans renew before the deadline to keep one of the hottest items on the market.
With OU hosting each of its games in the Preseason WNIT, the Sooners will play as many as 16 home games in the Lloyd Noble Center this season.
That number is up from last season's 13 home games and includes non-conference matchups against nationally-ranked Marist (Nov. 26), Creighton (Dec. 3), Tulsa (Dec. 21) and start-up North Carolina Central (Jan. 4).
The WNIT Championship Game, should the Sooners advance, is also part of this year's season ticket package. Possible opponents in the tournament include top-25 squads Arizona State, Middle Tennessee and North Carolina.

“This year's season ticket package is the strongest we've had in years—perhaps ever,” OU head coach Sherri Coale said. “Including exhibitions, we have 17 home games with a potential for 18 if we advance to the finals of the WNIT. That's two more than we had in 2007 and three more than we had in 2006. Additionally, this year's home opponents have the potential to be the strongest collective group of teams to come to Norman prior to January.”
General admission season tickets are $135, which is a lower price-per-game ticket than the previous year. Reserved tickets have completely sold out the past two seasons and are now made available to the public through a waiting-list system. They are $230 for courtside and $200 for lower level seats.
Sales of season tickets to the general public and group and single-game tickets will become available at a later date.
A program record 6,596 season tickets were sold in 2007, helping the Sooners average 10,254 fans per home game -- the third highest mark in the country.
The upcoming basketball season will be as exciting as ever as seniors Ashley and Courtney Paris and Carolyn Winchester play their final games in Crimson and Cream, and freshmen Whitney Hand and Jasmine Hartman take their first steps on the Lloyd Noble Court. The Sooners' cast also includes 2008 Big 12 Freshman of the Year Danielle Robinson, Oklahoma's own Rose Hammond and a star-studded lineup in Abi Olajuwon, Carlee Roethlisberger, Nyeshia Stevenson, Amanda Thompson, Jenny Vining and Lauren Willis.
The Sooners begin the 2008-09 season with exhibitions versus Western State College of Colorado (Nov. 6) and Oklahoma Christian (Nov. 11) before opening Saturday, Nov. 15, in the 1,000th game in Sooner history against UC-Riverside in the first round of the Preseason WNIT.
OU looks to make a strong run through the fall into Big 12 play and will have a chance to earn a conference championship crown in its own backyard as the Big 12 Tournament is back in Oklahoma City next March.
