NORMAN, Okla. — University of Oklahoma vice president for intercollegiate athletics programs and director of athletics Joe Castiglione and ninth-year men's golf head coach Jim Ragan released OU's 2008-09 tournament schedule on Tuesday.
The Sooners' slate features four fall events and six regular-season spring events before entering postseason play in Hutchinson, Kan., at the Big 12 Championship.
“I feel that we have put together a very competitive schedule that will pit us against some of the top teams across the country week in and week out,” said Ragan. “Our goal every year is to be playing our best golf towards the start of the postseason and I believe that this schedule will have us ready to do just that.”
Oklahoma will be tested early as four tournaments will take place at top-40 institutions from the final 2007-08 Golfweek rankings, including the season-opening Scenic City Invitational (Chattanooga was 12th in the final poll) on Sept. 8-9.
OU returns to the Southeast for the Shoal Creek Invitational on Sept. 22-23, hosted by UAB in Birmingham, Ala. The Blazers ended last year ranked 27th.
