BoomerBlast Subscriber Rewards Stories

NORMAN, Okla. -- Earlier this summer, the Boomerblast ran a special promotion offering subscribers the chance to win a pair of authentic game-worn vintage OU football helmets.
This week, we bring you the stories of our winners.
The contest was simple... All existing Boomerblast subscribers who referred at least one friend during the month of June were entered into a drawing for one of the authentic helmets. In addition, all new subscribers who signed up for the Boomerblast during the month of June were entered into a separate drawing for the other helmet.
Our winners were selected randomly, and upon delivery of their helmets, we asked them to send us some information about themselves, their history as Sooner fans and a picture of them holding their prize.
Here are their stories.
Wes Moore | Grove, Okla.
"As a 1957 graduate, I have continued to follow OU sports each year through the good and bad. Now we're back into the good years and I'm really enjoying it!
"I was born in Austin, Texas in 1934 and graduated from Austin High School in 1952. While there I played football and was selected to the second team all-district defensive team for District 6AAAA. I graduated from the University of Oklahoma in February 1957 after earning a bachelor of business administration degree in accounting.
"Since retiring in 1999, I have been fortunate to live just north of Grove, Okla., with my wife Linda and our dog, Buddy. I say to all who have the slightest interest that my wife, who was born in Stillwater and lived there most of her early years, has only one deficiency -- she always roots for OSU when Bedlam comes around.
"Go Sooners!"
Jay Manning | Sayre, Okla.
"I'm Jay Manning, a 26 year old Finance Manager at Barber-Dyson Ford in Elk City, Okla. I graduated high school from Sayre, Okla., and received a bachelor's degree from SWOSU in Weatherford, Okla., in recreation management with a minor in history and business.
"My girlfriend Jennifer and I have been together the past three years and have one girl, Jayden Rhea, who is 19 months, and one on the way due September 23.
"I'm an avid Sooner fan and have been a season ticket holder for Sooner football for the last seven years. I love going to OU football games. It's like a passion. I am ready once again for the upcoming season and a chance for three straight Big 12 championships and national championship No. 8.
"BOOMER SOONER!!!"
