Meet the Sooners Picnic Scheduled

NORMAN, Okla. - Sooner wrestling fans will get an opportunity to meet the 2008-09 squad at the annual "New Wrestlers Picnic," Wednesday, Aug. 20, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The event is open to the public and cost is $12 for adults and $6 for children ages six and younger.

Head coach Jack Spates will be hosting the event catered by Rudy's barbeque at his home in Norman at 1829 Marian Drive. On hand will be returning Sooners who recorded a 14-5 overall record last season, including victories over five Top 25 opponents. Also in attendance will be the 2008 recruiting class and coaching staff.

"We are very excited to kick off the new season and we hope Sooner fans come out and meet this extremely talented group of wrestlers," head coach Jack Spates said. "Our program appreciates the support from our fans and we look forward to a great evening."

Also available will be Sooner merchandise for purchase. Payments to the event can be made at the door or mailed to: OU Athletics Department - Wrestling Picnic, 180 W. Brooks, Norman, OK, 73019.
