OU Makes Move at NCAA Regional

BREMERTON, Wash. - Carding the fourth-best score out of the 27-team field, the University of Oklahoma men's golf squad jumped 12 spots to a tie for 11th at the NCAA West Regional in Bremerton, Wash., on Friday.
The Sooners shot a team score of +1 at the Par-72, 7111-yard Olympic Course at Gold Mountain Golf Club.
Oklahoma stands just one shot out of a top-10 finish which would advance the Sooners to the NCAA Championships, held May 28-31 at the Kampen Course in West Lafayette, Ind.
OU stands the highest of four Big 12 squads competing at the NCAA West Regional and is currently ahead of 10 squads ranked in the latest Golfstat top-50 poll.

Pacing the Sooners was freshman Liam Logan who jumped from 64th to 18th after a 2-under-par 70 on Friday. Joining Logan at +2 for the event is lone upperclassman Phillip Bryan who has carded rounds of 74 and 72.
2007 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year Jesse Schutte also found red figures in round two, shooting a 1-under-par 71 and stands 35th.
Tyler Rody rebounded from a rough first day with a 76 on Saturday for the Sooners final counted score. Rounding out the OU scoring was Ben Blundell who shot 80.
Oklahoma begins Saturday's final round at 10:05 a.m. (CDT) off of the 10th tee. The Sooners are paired with Wisconsin and Saint Mary (CA). Live scoring is available at www.golfstat.com.
