BREMERTON, Wash. The University of Oklahoma men's golf squad returns to action at the NCAA West Regional, held May 15-17 at the par 72, 7,111-yard Olympic Course at Gold Mountain in Bremerton, Wash.
The Sooners have advanced to postseason play in each of head coach Jim Ragan's eight years at OU and have finished in the top 10 in two of the last four NCAA Regionals.
Oklahoma's line-up will feature Phillip Bryan, Jesse Schutte, Liam Logan, Tyler Rody and Ben Blundell.
The top 10 teams and two individuals not on a top-10 team from the West Regional will advance to the NCAA Championships, hosted by Purdue University at the Kampen Course in West Lafayette, Ind., May 28-31.
Eight teams in the latest Golfweek top-25 poll will compete out west including third-ranked USC, No. 4 UCLA, No. 7 Stanford, No. 10 Florida State, No. 15 UNLV, No. 18 Clemson, No. 19 Arizona State and No. 24 Texas Tech.
The defending NCAA team champion (Stanford), the defending NCAA medalist (USC's Jamie Lovemark) and last year's NCAA runner-up (Clemson's Kyle Stanley) will all be in action at the NCAA West Regional.
"We are excited about playing in our eighth consecutive regional," said head coach Jim Ragan. "We have a young team that has been through a lot of ups and downs this year, but they have earned the right to advance to this event."
"The great thing about postseason play is that you can throw rankings, records and statistics right out the window, so we have as good of a chance of advancing to the NCAA Championships as anyone in the field," added Ragan. "It's a clean slate and we'll enter the event with that mindset."
