The Sooners have 10 games remaining on the season, with three Big 12 series against Kansas, Kansas State and Oklahoma State left on the schedule after the game against Wichita State.
Wednesday is the first meeting between the Sooners and Shockers this season. The two were slated to meet in Wichita on April 9, but the game was cancelled due to inclement weather.

Wednesday's game will be televised live by Metro Sports Communications and can be seen on Cox Ch. 7 in Oklahoma City and Cox Ch. 3 in Tulsa. Bruce Haertl will be on the play-by-play with Shane Dennis providing the color analysis.

UPDATING THE SOONERS
The Oklahoma Sooners went 3-2 last week with a midweek split at home against TCU (W, 11-6) and Southern Nazarene (L, 8-4) and a 2-1 series win at Texas Tech over the weekend.
OU began the Texas Tech series with a 12-7 win in the series opener and the Red Raiders claimed victory in the middle game, 6-2, despite trailing 2-1 after five innings. In the series finale, OU edged out Texas Tech, 3-2, to win the first road series of the season.

Seats remain for this Wednesday's game at 7 p.m. and gates will open 90 minutes prior to first pitch. OU will hit the road for the second straight weekend to battle Kansas (25-22, 5-13) in Lawrence. The series begins on Friday, May 2 at 6 p.m. at Hoglund Ballpark. Game two is slated for 2 p.m. on Saturday and the series finale is set for 1 p.m. on Sunday.
SOONER TO WATCH - MIKE GOSSE
The senior extended his hitting streak to 13 games with a single in the seventh inning on Sunday. Gosse has hit safely in 38 of the last 41 games and leads OU in nearly every major offensive category, including his Big-12 leading 19 doubles.
MORE ON THE OU-WICHITA STATE SERIES
The Sooners last met the Shockers in Norman on Feb. 28, 2007 and OU won 5-4 in the only game played between the two during the 2007 season. The two were scheduled to play in Wichita on April 9 of this season but rain again cancelled the contest. The Sooners have won the last three meetings, dating back to the two postseason victories in the 2006 Norman Regional.

ROAD SERIES WINS IN BIG 12 PLAY
The Sooners 2-1 Big 12 series victory over Texas Tech last weekend was the first on the road since April 22, 2007. OU topped Kansas State, 2-1, in that series in Manhattan last season. The last time OU won back-to-back series in the Big 12 on the road was during the 2006 season. The Sooners won each of their four road series in Big 12 play that year, defeating Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Kansas and Nebraska. Under Sunny Golloway, including three-game series in 2005, OU has won seven of the 12 conference road series.
MORE ON THE RUN RULE OVER MISSOURI
The 22 runs scored on April 20 is the second most by an OU team in a Big 12 regular season game and tied the mark set in 2003 against Kansas State (W, 22-6) ... That game on May 11 was also the last time OU run ruled a Big 12 team during a regular season game ... OU's 22-4 victory marked the largest margin of victory in a Big 12 regular season game for the Sooners ... The Sooners connected for more hits with runners in scoring position on April 20 (17), than the previous two games (8).
SCORING FIRST
The Sooners are 15-7-1 this season when scoring first, suffering losses to Texas A&M (GM1&2), Baylor (GM3), Nebraska (GM1), Missouri (GM1), Southern Nazarene and Texas Tech. The Sooners have struck first in nine of their 18 Big 12 games. OU has also scored in the first inning on 20 occasions and holds a 13-7-1 record in those contests.
OU UNDER GOLLOWAY IN EXTRA INNINGS
The Sooners have had success with games played in extra innings in 2008. OU is 4-1-1 this season with wins over then-No. 1 UCLA, Houston, Baylor, TCU and a tie at Nebraska. The only loss was suffered against then-No. 11 Missouri on April 19. In his fourth season at OU, head coach Sunny Golloway is 12-1-1 when his Sooners play in extra frames.
MIDWEEK SUCCESS
Oklahoma is 14-1 this season in midweek games this season, topping the opposition by an average of 5.3 runs. The Sooners are averaging 8.67 runs per game and hitting .333 as a team. In addition, the pitchers have held their own, posting a 2.91 earned run average. Until the loss to Southern Nazarene, OU was the only undefeated team in the Big 12 Conference in midweek play.

OU has 10 or more hits in 25 games this season owns a 17-7-1 record in those contests. The Sooners have scored 10 or more runs on 11 occasions and are undefeated in those contests. In comparison, opponents have connected for 10-plus hits in 21 games (10-10-1 record). In addition, OU is 0-4 when opponents score 10 or more runs.
FREEMAN NAMED A FINALIST FOR LOWE'S AWARD
OU senior Jarod Freeman was selected as one of 10 finalists for the 2008 Lowe's Senior Class Award on April 17. Freeman's selection marks the second consecutive year that a Sooner has appeared on the finalist list (Aaron Ivey - 2007). The 10 student-athletes were chosen from a list of 30 candidates based on personal qualities that define a complete student-athlete, including: classroom, community, character and competition. The 10 finalists will be placed on the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award baseball ballot for a nationwide vote (April 17-June 2. Fan balloting, available on the award's official website www.seniorclassaward.com, will be combined with votes from coaches, media and sponsors to determine the winner.
QUALITY STARTS AND RELIEF
The Sooners have found success on the mound when receiving quality starts from their pitchers. Only 11 starts have been under five innings and 14 have lasted six or more innings (OU 9-5 in those games).
TOUGH SCHEDULE
The Sooners are 5-11-1 so far this season against ranked competition with wins against then-No. 1 UCLA, then-No. 20 Baylor (2), then-No. 14 Texas and then-No. 11 Missouri.
