OU Concludes Big 12's in Seventh

TRINITY, Texas - The University of Oklahoma men's golf team ended the 2008 Big 12 Championship in seventh place on Sunday at Whispering Pines Golf Club in Trinity, Texas.
The Sooners shot a final-round team score of 300 (+12) at the Par 72, 7470-yard layout, finishing the four-round tournament at 48-over.
Oklahoma State won its sixth Big 12 title, finishing the event at 11-under par for a 20-shot victory over Texas. OSU also had the top two individual finishers as medalist Rickie Fowler concluded the event a nine-under while teammate Kevin Tway was four shots back.
Jesse Schutte led the way for Oklahoma, ending the event with a final-round 73 to finish in a tie for 18th at +8.
Phillip Bryan, the lone upperclassman on the OU roster, shot a team-low 72 on Sunday in ending the tourney at +13 (30th place).
One shot back of Bryan was freshman Liam Logan who fired a final-round 79 and stood T31st.
Rounding out the OU scoring were Tyler Rody and Eric Durbin who shot rounds of 77 and 78, finishing the event in 33rd and 59th, respectively.
Oklahoma now awaits the selection of the NCAA Regional Tournament fields, held May 15-17 in Columbus, Ohio, Chattanooga, Tenn., and Bremerton, Wash.
