NORMAN, Okla. -- After growing up with the hectic lifestyle of California, moving to Oklahoma was a welcome change of pace for Aljay Davis.
Calm, cool and collected, he fit right in with the midwestern culture.
Since arriving on campus after a two-year stint in junior college, Davis has been described as one of the most personable guys in the locker room. Ironically enough, he is quick to point out some of his teammates who keep the attitude lighthearted.
Davis said it is the overall family atmosphere and the relationships with his brothers on the team that have made his experience at Oklahoma so special.
On how he arrived at Oklahoma:
"I actually signed with OSU out of high school. I missed NCAA standards by half a credit so I went to junior college at Northeastern Oklahoma. OU and OSU both recruited me out of junior college and I just felt OU was a better fit for me. I really liked the coaching staff and just liked the atmosphere, so that's why I decided to come here."
On the recruiting battle between OU and OSU:
"I see that a lot with OU and OSU. They're always competing and it seems like they're always going for the same athletes. But I feel like this was definitely the better choice."

"We've got some

characters on the

team, that's for sure.

All the guys are

different in their own

way but I love them."

On the different lifestyle here compared to California:
"Definitely. It's a lot faster paced, there's a lot more traffic and it seems like people are always stressing out. Out here everybody's mellow, cool and calm. It's two different worlds, but I kind of like both of them."
On the different backgrounds of some of the other guys on the team:
"We've got some characters on the team, that's for sure. There are guys from all over the country. We have guys from Florida, Louisiana and all over the place, so you get a little bit of everybody's culture and where they come from. It's great playing baseball here and everybody gels really well. It's just a good atmosphere."
On who some of the characters are on this team:
"Wow, where should I start? We have Trey (Sperring), Jamie (Johnson)... I could name a whole bunch of them. All the guys are different in their own way but I love them."
On being together with these guys every single day:
"They always say college years are the best years. So far, I'd have to agree with that. Traveling together and getting a chance to play every day for a big school like OU, there is nothing better."
On the family atmosphere at Oklahoma:
"They take care of you just like your family does. They look after you and make sure you're getting your work done. They stay on top of you and it almost feels like your parents sometimes the way they drill you. Sometimes it takes a toll on you but they're trying to better you as a person, so you really can't complain too much."
On the future of the program considering the youth of the team:
"We've made a lot of progress. As far as the young guys, they're going to have a great squad and the future is looking very, very bright. I think we have a chance to do some things yet this year. We just have to come together and start performing a little better, but it's a bright future that's for sure."
On his own future after this season is over:
"Hopefully I'll be able to sign and play pro ball. If that doesn't work out, I'll probably go back to school for a couple of years
and go get a job. All I know is I want to be a coach. I feel like that's the best fit for me. I would love to coach in college. I know you have to work your way up, so I'll probably start off somewhere a little smaller and basically just have someone take me under their wing and teach me the process. We'll see, it's a long road."
On whether he plans to stay in Oklahoma or move back to California:
"Man, it's still a coin flip. I love California but I love it out here too. It seems a lot cheaper out here so it depends on how the pocketbook is looking, so we'll see."
