TRINITY, Texas - Seeking its second conference title in the last three seasons, the OU men's golf team travels to Trinity, Texas for the 2008 Big 12 Championship. The 72-hole event will be held April 25-27 at the par-72, 7,249 yard Whispering Pines Golf Club.
The tournament format features 36 holes on Friday followed by a single round on each of the final two days of competition.
"We are looking forward to getting out and competing at the conference championship, which is always an exciting time of the year," said head coach Jim Ragan. "We look to see where we stand among the other squads in the conference and are thrilled with the opportunity to play a tremendous golf course at Whispering Pines."
Seeded seventh in a coaches vote, Oklahoma is paired with No. 8 Kansas State and No. 9 Iowa State with a first-round tee time of 8:50 a.m. CDT on the first hole.
OU will start a senior, three sophomores and a freshman as Phillip Bryan, Eric Durbin, Liam Logan, Tyler Rody and Jesse Schutte are in action this weekend.
"While we haven't played to our potential at times this year, the talent is there and our guys are excited to play," added Ragan.
The Sooners are one of five schools to take home the conference crown, joining Baylor, Kansas, Oklahoma State and Texas.
