Oklahoma's offense was keyed by multiple-hit performances by Jamie Johnson (2-for-5), Aljay Davis (2-for-5), Mike Gosse (3-for-4, two RBIs) and Trey Sperring (2-for-5, RBI), while Aaron Baker and J.T. Wise each drove in three runs.
The Sooners jumped out to an early 8-1 lead after the second inning and controlled the game despite allowing five runs late. TCU starter Paul Gerrish (3-3) was chased after he recorded a 1/3 of an inning and allowed four runs on three hits.
TCU jumped on top first with Hubbard making his second start of the year in as many weeks. The Horned Frogs' run in the first was unearned after a throwing error by Trey Sperring.
The Sooners immediately countered in the bottom half of the first. Aaron Baker drove in the first pair of runs to give OU a 2-1 lead on an RBI single up the middle. Spencer Selby followed with an RBI single to left-center field and Trey Sperring capped off the inning with a run-scoring single to left field.
That was all the run support Hubbard would need to earn his first win in 10 career appearances. Hubbard lasted five innings and only surrendered the one unearned run off two hits and four walks. Hubbard also struck out three batters on a career-high 96 pitches.
In the bottom of the second, OU plated four more runs. After TCU reliever Chris Anagnostou loaded the bases on three singles and a fielder's choice, Baker drew a walk and another RBI to give the Sooners a 5-1 lead. After Selby flied out to right field for the second out, J.T. Wise cleared the bases on a double hit deep to center field.
"I thought the way we came out and scored four in the first and four in the second was really big," said OU head coach Sunny Golloway. "I am proud of Antwonie Hubbard. He seems to get better with each outing."
In the bottom of the fifth, the Sooners took a 10-1 lead on Mike Gosse's Big 12 leading 18th double of the year. The extra-base hit down the right-field line plated Jamie Johnson and Aljay Davis, who walked and reached on a bunt single, respectively.
The 11-run performance on Tuesday comes one game after OU plated 22 runs in the series finale against No. 11 Missouri. The 33 runs scored across the last two games is the most since March 8 and March 9 when the Sooners topped Arkansas Pine Bluff, 21-8 and 20-0.
"We've won these last two, we've got some momentum, and we need to carry it into tomorrow," added Golloway.
OU will host Southern Nazarene on Wednesday at 3 p.m. and admission is free at L. Dale Mitchell Park. Following the non-conference game, OU will head to Lubbock, Texas for a three-game set with Texas Tech.
