The loss is the fourth-straight for OU and drops its overall record to 22-13-1 and Big 12 mark to 3-8-1. The first place Aggies improved to 30-6 overall and 12-3 in Big 12 play.
Texas A&M completed the run-rule victory thanks to 12 runs off 16 hits and a solid performance from starting pitcher, Clayton Ehlert (2-1). The hurler held OU to two runs off eight hits over the complete seven innings.
"This was a disappointing game and a disappointing weekend overall," said OU head coach Sunny Golloway. "We have to concentrate on doing the little things better and that starts Tuesday at TCU."
C.J. Blue (6-1) made his first Big 12 start on Sunday and after holding the Aggies scoreless in the first and second innings, the opposition broke through in the third. The Aggies plated four runs in the frame, three unearned, thanks to five hits and an error on first baseman Jarod Freeman. Dane Carter helped produce the error as his sacrifice bunt scored a runner from third base and then another from second after Freeman's throw to the plate went wide.
In the top of the fourth, OU rallied with five straight singles off the bats of Mike Gosse, J.T. Wise, Jarod Freeman, Jamie Johnson and Tyson Seng. Despite the string of hits off Aggies' starter Clayton Ehlert, OU managed just one run on Johnson's RBI single. The rally was slowed thanks to a close play at third on Wise's single which nearly advanced Gosse all the way from first base.
Texas A&M regained the four-run lead in the bottom of the fourth after Ben Feltner led off the frame with a triple to right-center field and later scored on a ground out to second base.
In the top of the fifth, the Sooners added another run and cut the lead to 5-2 thanks to a pair of errors by the Aggies. Again, the Sooners were unable to capitalize and stranded two base runners to end the frame.
The Aggies chased Blue out of the game in the bottom of the fifth after a pair of extra base hits gave them a 6-2 lead. Blue lasted 4 1/3 innings and allowed seven runs, four earned, on 10 hits and one walk. Michael Roc\ha relieved Blue in the bottom of the fifth but was unable to limit the damage, giving up two more runs.
Down 9-2 after the fifth inning, the Sooners were unable to mount another rally and the Aggies ran away with the game on Jose Duran's walk-off double to clear the bases.
Wise had two of the Sooners' eight hits and Seng upped his hitting streak to six games.
The last time Oklahoma was swept in a three-game Big 12 series was last year against Oklahoma State (May 4-6).
The Sooners return to action Tuesday, April 15 against TCU in Fort Worth, Texas. The game is slated for a 6:30 p.m. first pitch. Following the mid week games, OU will host its fifth straight ranked opponent in Big 12 play as No. 12 Missouri heads to Norman for a three-game set over the weekend.
