WACO, Texas- The University of Oklahoma women's tennis team (9-9, 2-4) fell 6-1 to No. 6 Baylor, Friday, at the Baylor Tennis Complex.

"Baylor is a very strong team," OU head coach Mark Johnson said.  "We could have done some things better, but you have to give them credit they are very talented."

Baylor swept all three doubles matches to go ahead 1-0 early.

On court two, No. 57 Taylor Ormond and Jelena Stanivuk defeated Christi Baxley and Maria Kalashnikova 8-4.

No. 2 ranked Lenka Broosova and Zuzana Zemenova defeated Sooners Ana-Maria Constantinescu and Chelsea Orr 8-4 at the No. 1 spot.  The Lady Bears dropped the first game, but stormed back to win five straight and take a 5-1 lead. Oklahoma battled back to cut the lead to 6-4, but the Lady Bears won the last two games to secure the doubles point.

Oklahoma's lone win came from freshman Tara Eckel at the No. 6 spot.  The Dallas, Texas native defeated Natalie Holmes with ease, 6-2, 6-0.

"Tara played a great match," Johnson said.  "She is really improving and doing great things for the team."
