OU Moves to Final Round in 14th

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Firing a second-round 296 (+12), the University of Oklahoma men's golf team stands 14th with 18 holes to play at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational in Tempe, Ariz. Big 12 Newcomer of the Year Jesse Schutte and fellow sophomore Eric Durbin both carded 73s on Saturday at the 7,057-yard, par-71 Karsten Golf Course to lead the Sooners.
Schutte tops all OU golfers at +3 for the tournament while Durbin and senior Phillip Bryan (71,75) are a stroke back.
Rounding out the team scoring were Ben Blundell and Liam Logan who fired rounds of 75 and 76, respectively. Blundell is T66th on the leaderboard while Logan sits in 76th place.
Competing unattached from team scoring for the weekend is freshman Ryan Sirman who stands T21st after rounds of 71 and 73 to lead all Sooners.

Overnight leader Arizona State fired its second consecutive five-under round to take a seven-stroke advantage into Sunday's final round. First-round co-leader Kyle Nielsen of New Mexico stands a shot clear of the field after rounds of 66 and 70.
