AUSTIN, Texas - The Oklahoma Sooners (7-9) were defeated by the No. 5 Texas Longhorns on Sunday, 7-0, at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center.

The match was delayed for an hour as steady rain fell in the Austin area Sunday morning.

Texas won the doubles point to begin the match as the Longhorns took all three matches.

The Sooners were short handed as Ionut Beleleu was out with an injury sustained in the Friday match against Texas A&M.

The No. 5 team in the country then took all six singles matches as the home court was very kind to Texas.

Oklahoma is ranked No. 61 in the March 25 release of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) team rankings.

Sophomore Andrei Daescu is ranked No. 39 in the ITA singles rankings.

Next up, the Sooners host Texas Tech on Friday, April 4.  The match is slated for a 5 p.m. start.
