LAKESIDE, Calif. - 2007 Big 12 Newcomer of the Year Jesse Schutte carded back-to-back rounds of 71, leading the OU men's golf team to a 10th place-standing after 36 holes of the Barona Collegiate Cup in Lakeside, Calif.

Paced by Schutte's ninth-place standing, the Sooners carded rounds of 292 (+4) and 298 (+10) at the 7,393-yard, par-72 Barona Creek Golf Club.

The Florence, Ore., native carded seven birdies and two eagles on day one including a six-hole stretch of 4-under-par golf to start his second round.

OU was forced to count all four scores in the morning play as sophomore Ben Blundell was sidelined for the first 18 holes after a bout with food poisoning.  Blundell returned during Monday's afternoon round with a 6-over-par 78.
