SACRAMENTO, Calif.  - Senior pitcher Lauren Eckermann recorded her second shutout of the season as the No. 8 Oklahoma softball team shut out Sacramento State, 2-0, on Saturday morning in Capital Classic action in Sacramento, Calif.

The Sooners improved to 24-6 and 3-0 in tournament action and will face California at approximately 2:30 p.m. (CT) on Saturday.
Eckermann pushed her overall record to 6-2 this season as she gave up no runs on four hits while striking out four.

Sacramento State pitcher Megan Schaefer fell to 2-2 and the Hornets fell to 12-11 this season.

Offensively, the Sooners recorded eight hits and were led by freshman Wendy Trott's 3-for-3 performance which included two RBI and a home run.

Trott put the Sooners on the board first as she led off with a solo home run over center field  in the bottom of the third.  The homer over centerfield marked the freshman's fifth of the season as OU took the 1-0 lead.

Samantha Ricketts sparked OU in the bottom of the fourth as she led off with a single to right field and Traci Dickenson followed with a single to left.  Next, Lindsey Vandever's sacrifice bunt moved both runners into scoring position.  Susan Ogden followed that with a walk to load the bases for Trott with one out.  The rookie ripped an RBI single to right field that scored Ricketts and extended the OU lead to 2-0.

The run knocked Sac State starter Megan Schaefer out of the game as Brittani Clifford replaced her in the circle with one out and the bases loaded.  The first batter Schaefer faced was Jessica Legendre, who struck out for the second out of the frame.  The Sooners couldn't plate any more runs as Savannah Long popped up to the first baseman to end the inning.

Oklahoma continued its momentum in the fifth as Chana'e Jones led off with a walk and Flores followed with a single down the left field line.  Ricketts followed that with a walk to load the bases with no outs for Dickenson.  However, the second baseman lined into a double play that also retired Ricketts at first base.  Oklahoma couldn't take advantage as Vandever popped up to the second baseman to end the inning.

It was Trott again in the top of the sixth as she notched a one-out single up the middle to record a perfect 3-for-3 performance on the day.  Haley Anderson pinch ran for Trott, but was caught stealing on the next play.  Jeannie Douglas, pinch hitting for Jessica Legendre, flew out to right field to end the inning.
