Oklahoma Postgame Notes

February 06, 2008 | Men's Basketball

Feb. 6, 2008

• OU dropped to 45-25 all-time against the Longhorns.  The series record in Norman now stands at 21-9 in Oklahoma's favor.

• Oklahoma's current four-game skid against Texas is the second-longest streak in the 98-year series history between the two schools.  The Sooners dropped five straight contests during the 2003 and `04 seasons.

• With the absence of senior center Longar Longar to a broken bone in his leg, the Sooners rotated an eight-man lineup that included freshman Cade Davis and walk-on forward Beau Gerber.  The two entered tonight's contest having played a combined 27 minutes in conference games out of a possible 240 minutes (Davis-21, Gerber-6).

• Oklahoma connected on 12-of-14 (.857) free throws, including a perfect 6-of-6 mark in the first half.  OU entered the contest averaging .595 from the charity stripe over the past four games (47-of-79).

• Trailing the entire first half, Texas tied the contest for the first time at the 13:58 mark of the second half before taking its first lead on a jumper by A.J. Abrams with 9:48 left in the game (marking the only lead change of the contest).

• The Sooners lost their second consecutive game to a ranked opponent when leading at halftime. OU led by four at the half tonight and by six in College Station on Saturday.

• Oklahoma's 24 3-point attempts were the third most on the season.  OU connected on six of its attempts from behind the arc (25 percent).  It made its first three trey attempts but went 3-for-21 afterward.

• Four of OU's five starters (Tony Crocker, David Godbold, Blake Griffin and Taylor Griffin) scored all 54 of Oklahoma's points on the night.   OU's five starters played 174 out of a possible 200 minutes.

• Hitting just 8-of-32 (.250) field goals in the first half, Texas shot 56.0 percent after the break (14-of-25).  The Longhorns connected on 7-of-12 (.583) second-half shots from behind the arc after hitting 2-of-11 (.182) before the break.

• UT's five turnovers marked a season low for an OU opponent.

• After an average of 41 field goal attempts in their previous two contests, the Sooners recorded 54 shots on the night.

• David Godbold scored 12 points (all in the second half) and added seven rebounds.

• Blake Griffin poured in a team-high 19 points on 6-of-9 (.667) shooting. The freshman forward was 7-of-8 from the free throw line, adding nine boards and a team-high four assists.

• Taylor Griffin recorded his second career double-double in Big 12 action, netting 12 points and a career-high 15 rebounds.  His 15 boards tied for the second most by a Sooner on the year.
