Waikoloa Welcome for the Sooners

NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma men's golf team opens its spring tournament slate at the UH-Hilo Intercollegiate this Wednesday through Friday at the par-72, 6,971-yard Waikoloa Village Golf Course in Waikoloa, Hawaii.
The Sooners face eight top 50 schools in a the 18-team field, including three top 10 schools - No. 4 Georgia Tech, No. 8 USC and No. 10 Stanford. Oregon State, TCU, Texas Tech, Arizona State and Oregon round out the other squads in the top 50. Colorado is the only other Big 12 school in the tournament.
Oklahoma recorded four top-5 finishes in five fall events, including a season-best-tying third in the last fall event - the Santa Clara Invitational on Oct. 22-23.
The OU lineup features Big 12 Newcomer of the Year Jesse Schutte, Ben Blundell, Eric Durbin, Tyler Rody and Ryan Sirman.
Durbin led the Sooners in the fall with a stroke average of 72.33 through four tournaments, including a season-low, 7-under 64 in the first round of the Scenic City Invitational.
