NORMAN, Okla. -- The eighth installment of SoonerSports.com's Baseball Newcomer Spotlights focuses on freshman catcher Tyler Ogle.
In preparation for the 2009 season, Soonersports.com will help fans get to know the new faces around the diamond at L. Dale Mitchell Park.
Ogle is a San Antonio, Texas, native and was a three-year letterwinner under head coach Peter Garza at New Braunfels Canyon High School. As a senior, he hit .474 with 10 homers and earned first team all-state honors.
Throughout the rest of the semester, SoonerSports.com will feature one of the Sooners' 15 newcomers that will join a group of 18 letterwinners from the 2008 team that advanced to the Tempe Regional Finals before falling to then-No. 4 Arizona State.
Each spotlight will include an updated bio, Q&A session and videos of each player in action from the Red/White Series and a scouting report from OU Head Coach Sunny Golloway.
Ogle helped his high school team to the regional quarterfinals in 2006 and 2007 and to a district championship in 2008. He hit .439 with 17 home runs throughout his career and also lettered two years in football (all-district in 2006).
