NORMAN, Okla. -- Freshman Kennedy Winn is the focus of the 14th and final installment of SoonerSports.com's Baseball Newcomer Spotlights.
In preparation for the 2009 season, Soonersports.com will help fans get to know the new faces around the diamond at L. Dale Mitchell Park.
Winn is an Oklahoma native and lettered the last four years at Chickasha High School where he was all-state as a senior and his team was the state runner up in 2007 and 2008.
Throughout the rest of the semester, SoonerSports.com will feature one of the Sooners' 15 newcomers that will join a group of 18 letterwinners from the 2008 team that advanced to the Tempe Regional Finals before falling to then-No. 4 Arizona State.
Each spotlight will include an updated bio, Q&A session and videos of each player in action from the Red/White Series and a scouting report from OU Head Coach Sunny Golloway.
Winn is a versatile athlete that pitched and played in the outfield and at first base in high school. As a senior, Winn Hit .393 as a senior with 11 doubles and recorded a 10-2 mark on the mound with 101 strikeouts and a 2.94 ERA.

Q: What interests do you have outside of baseball?
A: Church activities, golf and fishing.
Q: What is the reason behind your uniform number?
A: Given to me.
Q: List three words that describe you?
A: Competitive, passionate and sincere
Q: Name one thing that fans don't know about you?
A: When I was four-years old, I memorized the starting lineup of the 1994 National Championship team.
Q: Why did you choose OU?
A: Because I was born and raised in Oklahoma and wanted to feel pride in saying I was a Sooner.
Q: What was your favorite baseball team when you were younger? Now?
A: Chicago Cubs
Q: What is the most interesting place you have visited?
A: New York City. Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown.
Q: What is the most interesting thing you did this past summer?
A: Attended two New York Yankee games and visited Cooperstown.
Q: What is your nickname?
A: K-Winn.
Q: What is your dream job?
A: Play professional baseball.
Q: Who is the most famous person you have ever met?
A: Joe Carter
Q: What is the best piece of advice a coach gave you?
A: Be a competitor in everything you do.
