• Fourth-ranked Oklahoma improved to 12-0 with a 70-58 road win against Rice. Only three OU teams in history have started a season with more wins (18 in 1927-28, 17 in 1985-86 and 14 in 1987-88).
• After a stretch of five games when it won four times by fewer than five points, OU has now won each of its last five games by double digits.
• Willie Warren scored a career-high 31 points and Blake Griffin netted 27 to account for 58 of the Sooners' 70.
• Warren was 11-for-17 from the field and drained a career-high four 3-pointers on nine attempts while also grabbing a pair of rebounds and handing out a team-high-tying three assists.
• Griffin pulled down 11 rebounds for his ninth double-double (he had 10 all of last season) and added three assists and four blocked shots. The sophomore was 9-for-11 from the field to up his season percentage to .683. The game marked the sixth this season that he registered at least three assists.
• Ahead 46-44, the Sooners scored on 14 of their final 15 possessions over the last 7:52 (discounting their final possession when they ran out the clock).
• OU overcame a season-high-tying 17 turnovers. They entered the game averaging 12.5 miscues per game and had committed 10.2 over the previous five outings.
• Austin Johnson pulled down a career-high-tying eight rebounds while Taylor Griffin grabbed a season-high-tying eight. The Sooners won the board battle, 42-35.
• Oklahoma shot .500 from the field (24-for-48), giving it six games this year of .500-or-better shooting. Its .500 free throw performance (17-for-34) was its worst of the year.
• The Sooners outscored Rice 34-10 in the paint. Rice's bench scored 27 points while OU's scored two (Ryan Wright).
• OU is off until Dec. 30 when it plays at Arkansas (televised by the Sooner Sports Network).
