IRVING, Texas -- Oklahoma's Whitney Hand was named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Co-Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Hand shared the freshman honor with Texas A&M's Syndey Carter.
Hand was the Sooners' second-leading scorer the past week, averaging 16.5 points in a win at home over Marist and a loss on the road to No. 1 Connecticut.
The Fort Worth, Texas, native shot 52.4 percent from the field, including a 54.5 percent mark from 3-point range.
Against Marist, Hand led the Sooners in scoring with a career high 20 points. She added 13 against UConn for the first back-to-back double-digit scoring games of her young career.
Nebraska junior forward Cory Montgomery was the Big 12 Player of the Week.
Hand is the second Sooner to earn distinction from the conference in as many week. Ashley Paris was the player of the week last week.
