2008 OU Baseball Media GuideNORMAN, Okla. -- Freshman infielder Cameron Seitzer is the focus of Soonersports.com's 11th installment of the Newcomer Spotlights.
In preparation for the 2009 season, Soonersports.com will help fans get to know the new faces around the diamond at L. Dale Mitchell Park.
Seitzer, an Overland Park, Kan., native, is the son of Kevin Seitzer, a 12-year veteran in Major League Baseball. Seitzer starred at Blue Valley West H.S. in Kansas last season, hitting over. 400 with 26 RBIs en route to earning all-state honors. Seitzer was all-state in 2008 as well, when he helped lead his team to a 6A Kansas State Championship.
Throughout the rest of the semester, SoonerSports.com will feature one of the Sooners' 15 newcomers that will join a group of 18 letterwinners from the 2008 team that advanced to the Tempe Regional Finals before falling to then-No. 4 Arizona State.
Each spotlight will include an updated bio, Q&A session and videos of each player in action from the Red/White Series and a scouting report from OU Head Coach Sunny Golloway.
Seitzer hit .520 in his high school career before playing in the MINK League last summer, where he was named the league's top prospect.

A: Cooperstown, N.Y.

A: Father, Kevin, and uncle, Brad, both played in MLB.
Q: What is your favorite OU tradition?
A: Yelling Boomer, Sooner.
Q: What is the reason behind your uniform number?
A: I have always had No. 20 or No. 33.
Q: List three words that describe you?
A: Respectful, baseball, honest.
Q: Name one thing that fans don't know about you?
A: Lived in 12 different states.
Q: Why did you choose OU?
A: It seemed like the right fit.
Q: What was your favorite baseball team when you were younger? Now?
A: Cleveland Indians. Texas Rangers.
Q: What is your nickname and the reasoning behind it?
A: Seitz. Just a shortened version of my last name.
Q: Who is the most famous person you have met?
A: Cal Ripken.
Q: What is your dream job?
A: Play professional baseball.
