SOONER BASEBALL CENTRAL
2008 OU Baseball Media Guide

NORMAN, Okla. -- In preparation for the 2009 season, Soonersports.com will help fans get to know the new faces around the diamond at L. Dale Mitchell Park.

Today's spotlight, the third in the series, highlights junior left-handed pitcher Mehdi Djebbar (pronounced meh-DEE, JUH-bar) from Montreal, Quebec.  Orginally born in Algeria, Djebbar played at Seminole State College the last two years after being drafted in the 20th round of the 2006 MLB Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers.

Throughout the rest of the semester, SoonerSports.com will feature one of the Sooners' 15 newcomers that will join a group of 18 letterwinners from the 2008 team that advanced to the Tempe Regional Finals before falling to then-No. 4 Arizona State.

Each spotlight will include an updated bio, Q&A session and videos of each player in action from the Red/White Series and a scouting report from OU Head Coach Sunny Golloway.

Djebbar earned two letters at Seminole State College and helped lead the program to the Region II Finals in 2008.

The hurler won seven games in 27 appearances at Seminole and enjoyed his best season as a freshman.  In 2007, Djebbar was 4-2 with a 2.88 ERA and recorded 46 strikeouts in 59 1/3 innings.  Click the link at the top right to access his complete bio.

Click the links to the right to watch footage of Djebbar playing in the R/W Series and listen to Coach Golloway as he breaks down the recruitment of Djebbar, his progress throughout the fall, and his possible role in 2009.
