NORMAN, Okla. – The University the Oklahoma wrestling team will step out of dual action this weekend, Nov. 29, when it hosts its annual Oklahoma Open at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman.
Universities sending wrestlers to the Sooner tournament include Oklahoma State, Stanford, Oklahoma City, Central Oklahoma, Newman and Labette, Newman and Neosho Community Colleges.
Preliminaries will begin Saturday at 9 a.m., with the parade of champions scheduled for 6 p.m., later that day.
Last season, Oklahoma claimed eight of 10 possible titles. Six of those Sooners return to the mat this year in Kyle Terry (149 pounds), Seth Vernon (141 pounds), Chad Terry (157 pounds), Jeff James (174 pounds), Eric Lapotsky (197 pounds) and Nathan Fernandez (heavyweight).
The tournament will also feature high school competition on Friday, Nov. 28. , which will also kick off at 9 a.m. Entry fees for both high school and college cost $25 for interested wrestlers, which includes a guarantee of two matches.

OU, now 3-0 on the season and ranked No. 19, are coming off a victory over No. 20 Old Dominion last Thursday evening by a 28-6 final margin. The Sooners will return to dual competition Sunday, Dec. 7, when they host the Cowboys of Oklahoma State at the McCasland Field House in Norman at 2 p.m.
