NORMAN, Okla. -- Junior catcher/infielder Ross Hubbard is featured in the sixth installment of SoonerSports.com's Baseball Newcomer Spotlights.
In preparation for the 2009 season, Soonersports.com will help fans get to know the new faces around the diamond at L. Dale Mitchell Park.
Hubbard comes to Norman after two successful years at Navarro Junior College. In 2008, the Denton, Texas, native hit .385 with 13 homers and 57 RBIs while earning First Team All-Conference Honors and being named to the Texas vs. New Mexico Junior College All-Star Game.
Throughout the rest of the semester, SoonerSports.com will feature one of the Sooners' 15 newcomers that will join a group of 18 letterwinners from the 2008 team that advanced to the Tempe Regional Finals before falling to then-No. 4 Arizona State.
Each spotlight will include an updated bio, Q&A session and videos of each player in action from the Red/White Series and a scouting report from OU Head Coach Sunny Golloway.
Hubbard was a three-year letterwinner at Denton Ryan High School where he also played basketball during his sophomore year. The Texas native comes from an athletic family as his father played baseball at the University of Texas Martin and his brother played baseball at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. In addition, his sister played soccer at the University of Alabama.
