NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma women's rowing team travels to Chattanooga, Tenn., Saturday, Nov. 1, for the Head of the Hooch. The regatta is expected to feature some of the best rowing squads in the nation. Last year, the Hooch was the second largest in the nation.

“We will face some of our toughest competitors in the South region this weekend at the Head of the Hooch," said OU head coach Leeanne Crain. "We'll get a chance to see how we compare within our region in the novice and varsity categories.  We have a young squad, so this will be a great opportunity for our athletes to compete against some of the best programs in the nation.”

In the final fall competition of the year, OU will compete in the women's freshman novice 8+ and the women's championship 4+. There are 16 entries in the WF/N8+, including Clemson, Duke, Alabama, UCF, Louisville, and Texas, 30 entries in the WC4+, including Clemson, Duke, Tennessee, North Carolina, Texas and Alabama.

Recap:
Last weekend, the OU rowers competed at the Head of the Colorado in Austin, Texas. The varsity squad placed third in the W4+ event (women's four with coxswain), while novice squads entered the W8+ (women's eight with coxswain), placing second in the Novice-1 and third in the Novice-2 divisions, respectively. The Head of the Colorado marked the first time the novice squads competed and the second regatta for the varsity rowers this fall.
