NORMAN, Okla. - The Big 12 preseason favorite Oklahoma men's basketball team will host an intrasquad scrimmage Saturday, Nov. 1 at 3:30 p.m. inside the Howard McCasland Field House. The scrimmage is open to the public and free. Doors will open at 2:30 p.m.
Saturday's event will provide Sooner fans the first opportunity to watch the 2008-09 squad under the direction of third-year head coach Jeff Capel. The team will participate in individual drills starting at 3 p.m. and will compete in two 15-minute periods beginning at 3:30. Oklahoma's home football game against Nebraska kicks off at 7.
Capel's Sooners, who are a top-10 preseason national pick by several print and online publications, open the 2008-09 season with a home exhibition game on Wednesday, Nov. 5 against Oklahoma Panhandle State at 7 p.m. They begin the regular season Nov. 14 with a home contest against 2008 NCAA Tournament participant American.
