NORMAN, Okla. -- Members of the OU rowing team are preparing for their next competition, the Head of the Colorado Regatta. Before they took off for Austin, Texas, Soonersports.com caught some members of the varsity rowing team to ask questions about rowing and gain some insight into their personal lives.

What attracted you to rowing?
When you finish a race, you completely forget about all the pain you just felt because you are so proud.
Being on the water is the best way to relieve stress, the girls you meet, and getting to be outside all the time - there is nothing better.
The team aspect, I missed it from participating in high school sports.
What makes rowing unique?
It is one of the most team oriented sports.
In Oklahoma, most people don't even realize we have a river, let alone a rowing team. It is a team sport and everyone must be in sync.
We row backwards in 60-ft.-long boats, and when we win we throw our coxswain into the river.
Why did you join OU's rowing team?
I knew that coming to OU would be the best decision I could ever make for my athletic career, and I have complete faith in the coaching staff.
I was a club team rower like the majority of our varsity team and was ready for something more.
I've been on the club team for three years. It's been an amazing experience and can only get better.
