NORMAN, Okla. -- The OU baseball team concluded fall practices on Saturday with the fifth and final game of the Red/White Series at L. Dale Mitchell Park.  The Red team won 4-3 a day after clinching the series with a game four victory.

Down 3-2 in the top of the ninth, the Red team rallied for the victory with RBI singles by juniors Kaleb Herren and Ross Hubbard.

Junior Bryant Hernandez singled off junior Levi Rhoades (0-1) to start off the frame.  After sophomore Casey Johnson moved the runner to second base on a sacrifice bunt, Hernandez scored on Herren's single to right field.  Rhoades recorded the second out of the inning with a strikeout of senior J.T. Wise but Heren scored the game-winning run on Hubbard's single to center field.

“It's been a very productive fall for the OU baseball program,” said OU Head Coach Sunny Golloway.  “We have a great blend of talent with all of our returners and the newcomers.  The coaches are already looking forward to starting things back up next semester to get ready for the 2009 season.”

Both teams were held scoreless by starters Chase Anderson (White) and Garrett Richards (Red) in the first three innings, but after they were relieved in the fourth, Crimson took the initial lead.

Once again, Hernandez started things off with a one-out walk issued by freshman Kennedy Winn and moved to second on Casey Johnson's sac bunt.  After Hernandez stole third base, he scored on Herren's single.

In the bottom of the fifth, White tied things up on Tyson Seng's solo home run off junior Mehdi Djebbar, but Red regained the lead in the top of the sixth on Hernandez's sacrifice fly.

White took its first lead of the game in the bottom of the eighth inning off junior Jarrett Semler.  Senior Matt Harughty and freshman Chris Ellison each connected for RBI singles to give White a 3-2 lead.

Herren finished with a game-high two RBIs and led Red with two hits on the afternoon.  Offensively for White, Jamie Johnson and Ogle led the way with two hits apiece.

Anderson, who took the loss in game one, bounced back with three strong innings, highlighted by five strikeouts.  Anderson's one flaw was a single by freshman Cameron Seitzer in the top of the third inning.

Richards' start for Red was equally impressive as the junior did not allow a hit in three innings and had two walks and two strikeouts.

The Sooners will resume team practices next semester on Feb. 1 in preparation for the 2009 season.  Stay tuned to SoonerSports.com for the release of next season's schedule.
