Wrestlers at Fan Fest Saturday

NORMAN, Okla. – Sooner fans have the opportunity to meet the 2008-09 University of Oklahoma wrestling squad this Saturday, Oct. 19, at OU Fan Fest prior to the Oklahoma versus Kansas football game. The team will sign autographs from 12:30-1:15 p.m., on the north lawn of the Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.

The grapplers will hold their annual Red/White scrimmage on Oct. 29, before opening the season on Nov. 8, in Brockport, N.Y., for the Brockport/Oklahoma Gold Classic. A matchup versus Central Oklahoma on Nov. 13, will mark the first home dual at McCasland Field House in Norman.

Picked in the preseason top 20, Oklahoma returns seven starters from last season, including three NCAA qualifiers in Joey Fio (125 pounds), Zack Bailey (141 pounds) and Will Rowe (149 pounds).

2008-09 Schedule

Head coach Jack Spates, now in his 16th season with the Sooners, is two wins shy of his 200th victory at Oklahoma (198-88-11). He looks to lead this year's team to a 14th consecutive season of 10 wins or more.
