NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma men's basketball team doesn't play its first official game of the 2007-08 season for more than two months, but Sooner fans can get a sneak peek of the squad this week.

Head coach Jeff Capel will open the practice gym doors to the public on Tuesday, Aug. 28, for OU's 2:30 p.m. workout.  The practice, which will be held on the Bruce Drake Practice Court (just south of Lloyd Noble Center's main arena), will last until approximately 5.

"We want to reach out to our fans and let them get to know our players," said Capel, who is in his second year at OU.  "We've got seven returning players from last year, but we've got a lot of new faces, too.  I think it's important to allow the fans to familiarize themselves with everyone.  Our guys have been working their tails off and we're anxious to practice in front of our supporters on Tuesday."

Fans should park on the east side of the Bob and Ann Coleman Men's Basketball Center on Tuesday and enter the practice gym via the east stairwell.  Doors will open at 2:30.

The Sooners have held six practices since last Tuesday in preparation for their Labor Day weekend trip to Vancouver, British Columbia.  OU will play four exhibition games over a three-day span against Vancouver area colleges.

The Sooners leave for Vancouver on Friday, Aug. 31, and play the University of British Columbia on Saturday, Sept. 1 (9 p.m. CT), visit Simon Fraser (2 p.m. CT) and Trinity Western (10 p.m. CT) on Sunday, Sept. 2, and face Douglas College on Monday, Sept. 3 (11 a.m. CT), before returning to Oklahoma later that day.
