Sooners Compete at Team Trials

NORMAN, Okla. - Three University of Oklahoma wrestlers competed in the FILA Junior World Team Trials in Colorado Springs, Colo. May 24-26.

The trials took place at the Olympic Training Center and consisted of athletes 20 years and under.

Henry Roman competed at 60 kg and finished the weekend with a record of 1-2. Roman lost to eventual champion Angel Escobedo in the second round.

Jeff James competed at 84 kg and placed second in the challenge tournament, losing to Louis Caputo 4-0, 2-0 in the finals.

Nathan Fernandez was the lone Sooner to place as he took home third place honors at 120 kg. Fernandez pinned Minnesota heavyweight Joe Nord in the third place match.
